Well, the curse of "Aaron on vacation" has struck again. I'm not sure why the market likes to tank when I leave town, but last week felt like Sept. 08 when I was on vacation. That was the week that Congress voted against the first TARP proposal. The only difference was I didn't see that one coming. I've been preparing for this for over a year. And for those who have been following me have been preparing for this.
I suggested buying physical gold around $1100. Today it is trading over $1700. The biggest surprise to me is that gold/metal stocks haven't participated in the move up. Two that I follow have had nothing but positive news and they are actually trading for less than when gold was at $1100. They are extremely cheap. I think the reason is that most of the trading in the miners has come from American investors. Most of the precious metal buying has come from Asia. Those of you who are my clients already own some of these stocks. If you would like to know more about them, contact me through email or call my mobile.
The news of the weekend is the S&P downgrade of our debt. I'm actually surprised that the market is down again on the news. I thought that is why we were down last week. The downgrade was being priced in. I think this is sell off will be over pretty soon. I can't make specific recommendations on here but I would take equity exposure off the table on a bounce. At least 30% of your holdings.
My thoughts and prayers also go out the families of the 30 Americans who died this weekend in Afghanistan. Two of the soldiers were from NW Arkansas.

Geithner: No Risk U.S. Will Lose AAA Credit Rating
This link is to an interview with Geithner saying the US is in NO RISK of losing it's AAA credit rating. The arrogance of our "leaders" blows my mind. Once again, Tiny Tim was wrong.

The NFL lost one it's all-time greats last week. The Randy Moss Show announced his retirement. Here is a cool chart of the all-time TD leaders in the NFL. I don't anyone is going to catch Jerry Rice.

This is hilarious! The Alabama Sheriff's Dept busted a bunch of people for unpaid child support. They told them they had won tickets to the Alabama/Auburn game. When they showed up, they got arrested. Kudos to Operation: Iron Snare!
